Reward of Rs 3500 to Farmers of Bihar

During this festive season, the Nitish Kumar Government has decided to give a cash award of Rs 3500 to the farmers of Bihar who were residing in drought prone regions.

It is pertinent to note that currently there are 11 drought prone Districts in the State. The special assistance will be given to all the affected families of these 11 Districts consists of 937 Panchayats of 96 Blocks and 7841 Revenue Villages.

Chief Minister of Bihar NItish Kumar tweeted:

It has been mentioned that the required amount will be credited to the beneficiaries before the Chhath Pooja which is celebrated widely in the State.

It is to be noted that 937 panchayats in 96 blocks of 11 districts of Bihar were declared drought-hit in the state cabinet meeting held on Thursday. The districts which have been declared drought-hit are Jehanabad, Gaya, Aurangabad, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Munger, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui and Nalanda.

The cabinet had also approved a proposal to give diesel subsidy to more farmers due to lack of rain, and an additional amount of Rs 100 crore has been released from the contingency fund for the distribution of the subsidy amount.
