Bihar Teacher Recruitment

On Monday, Justice A. Amanullah’s division bench of the Patna High Court has passed the order that cleared the road block for teacher’s recruitment in the state. In this important decision, the Patna High Court has lifted the ban on the recruitment process of teachers in secondary and higher secondary schools of the state.

The court said that the government can continue the process of secondary and higher secondary teacher recruitment, but their reinstatement will depend on the decision of this appeal. Another bench of the High Court had stayed the reinstatement of teachers on September 15, 2022.

This matter is related to the sixth phase of teacher planning in high schools. On February 9 this year, a single bench of the Patna High Court gave its verdict while hearing the writ petition related to the process of the sixth phase. The Court in its order said that the candidates whose BSITET result was published in the year 2012 and who have enrolled themselves for B.Ed. course till the session 2016-18 latest syllabus and submission of applications for the sixth phase of B.Ed. Degree before the last date will be eligible.

The Court in its judgment also said that the candidates whose results have been published in the year 2012
but have enrolled themselves in B.Ed. course in the session 2017-19 irrespective of the fact that they have
obtained B.Ed. before the cut-off date date will not be eligible. But, they will be at liberty to approach
the concerned respondent for consideration of their cases for selection/appointment.

The ongoing teacher recruitment and planning process for more than 32,000 vacancies in secondary and higher secondary schools of the sixth phase will start soon. It was stopped due to hearing on some petitions. In some places, counselling of such candidates was also done especially in the Zilla Parishad planning unit.
