After the order of the Patna High Court, regarding the municipal elections to be held in Bihar, the State Election Commission Bihar has issued an order and postponed the election till the next date. On Tuesday, the Patna High Court made an important comment on the issue of reservation on the municipal elections to be held in the state. The Patna High Court had said in its order that the Bihar government and the State Election Commission have not followed the order of the Supreme Court regarding reservation for the backwards in the process of this election.

The Patna High Court had expressed displeasure in this decision on the State Election Commission. After this, the State Election Commission Bihar has amended the process of municipal general elections in the light of the order. The Secretary, State Election Commission, Bihar, has said in a letter sent to all the District Officers cum District Election Officers that the first phase of polling on October 10 and the second phase on October 20 is immediately postponed. The next date of polling will be intimated further.

According to the latest update, elections can be conducted by terming the most backward seats as normal, but in this process, it is not possible to hold elections on the date of polling already announced. It is to be known that in Bihar, the State Election Commission was conducting the municipal elections. A petition was filed in the Patna High Court regarding the reservation for the backwards in the civic elections. The hearing on this petition was completed on September 29.
