The day is celebrated because on March 22, 1912 Bihar state was formed and separated from Bengal as an independent state.
The Bihar Diwas is celebrated from 2005 in Bihar by the initiative of the Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar.
March 22 of every year is declared a public holiday.
This year the main function will be held in Gandhi Maidan and the cultural programmes will be held in both Gandhi Maidan and Shri Krishna Memorial Hall of Patna.
The day will also be celebrated around the globe wherever there is a presence of Bihar Foundation.
In 2012, Bihar State Song was released as ‘ Mere Bharat Ke Kanthahar, Tujhko Shat Shat Vandan Bihar’. The song was created by Poet Satyanarayan. The Bihar Diwas will be started with this opening song.
On this Bihar Diwas i.e. March 22, 2022 Bihar has become 110 years old.
On the eve of Bihar Diwas, this year 500 drones will be performing a light show from 120 metres up in the sky.
